NCEP Global Ocean Data Assimilation System (GODAS)

Introduction

The operational data sets produced routinely by the Global Ocean Data Assimilation System (GODAS) developed at National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) are a valuable community asset for monitoring different aspects of ocean climate variability and assessing benefits of NOAA´s extensive investment in global ocean observing program. To gain a broader dissemination of GODAS data products, and to increase research community involvement in the assessment of GODAS and the effectiveness of the ocean observing system, the Office of Climate Observation of NOAA sponsors the Climate Prediction Center (CPC)/NCEP to host the web site for GODAS. (Note that the net surface heat flux are the total surface heat flux from the NCEP reanalysis 2 plus the relaxation terms.) Please click Introduction.pdf for more information. The binary data can be retrieved via ftp cfs.ncep.noaa.gov at directory pub/cfs/godas. Please send your comments on the GODAS web to Yan Xue or David Behringer or Boyin Huang.
