South Asian Monsoon Index
Observations: March

March patterns of the correlation between grid-point precipitation and the South Asian monsoon index and the regression of grid-point 850-mb winds on the monsoon index

These figures show monthly patterns of the correlation (shadings) between grid-point precipitation and the South Asian monsoon index, and the regression (vectors) of grid-point 850-mb winds on the monsoon index. Green (brown) colors indicate increase (decrease) in precipitation corresponding to strong (weak) monsoon or positive (negative) index value. Note that the patterns for non-monsoon months may not be physically meaningful.
