Explanation:
Daily precipitation graphics are produced using the CPC MORPHing technique (CMORPH) on
a global basis from 60oN-60oS. Data resolution is approximately 8km and the
24-hour product is a resultant accumulation of 30 minute segments. Data inputs include
half-hourly geostationary satellite infrared temperature fields along with
irregular-interval polar orbiting satellite microwave brightness temperature retrievals.
The morphing process involves using the relatively poor temporal resolution microwave
precipitation estimate data and interpolating its movement between retrieval periods.
