1. North America:

ABNORMALLY COLD ARCTIC AIR REMAINS ENTRENCHED
Bitterly cold weather, characterized by weekly departures of -6°C to -12°C dominated the Prairie Provinces of Canada and most of the central and eastern United States. Readings failed to climb above freezing across the western Great Lakes and most of the Corn Belt while lows plummeted below -20°C as far south as northeastern Oklahoma and southern Indiana. 3. Western Iberian Peninsula:

WETNESS PERSISTS
Moderate to heavy precipitation (25 to 100 mm) soaked extreme northwestern Spain and most of Portugal, with heavier precipitation (100 to 200 mm) reported in central and southern Portugal. Short-term (8-week) precipitation totals ranged from 150 to 1100 mm, with highly variable moistures excesses of 50 to 720 mm [WET - Up to 17 weeks].

4. South-Central Europe:

STILL UNUSUALLY MILD
Temperatures were 2°C to 5°C above normal across southern and central France, the southern Alps, and northern Spain, with the mercury reaching 10°C to 18°C. Most locations experienced subfreezing lows, but parts of coastal and western France remained above freezing for the entire week [WARM - Up to 14 weeks].

5. Senegal and the Gambia:

WARM ANOMALY RETURNS
Temperatures averaged 2°C to 5°C above normal last week as unusually warm weather returned. Weekly highs ranged from 32°C to 37°C [WARM - Up to 3 weeks].

6. Southeastern Asia:

ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES DOMINATE REGION
Weekly departures of +2°C to +4°C prevailed across southeastern Asia from Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia eastward to the Ryukyus. During the week, highs ranged from 25°C to 35°C across the entire region [WARM - Up to 6 weeks].

7. Central Siberia:

BITTERLY COLD WEATHER CONTINUES
Temperatures were 3°C to 9°C below normal, with localized weekly departures reaching -20°C. Highs failed to reach 20°C throughout the region while the mercury plummeted below -50°C at a few locations [COLD - Up to 11 weeks].

8. North-Central and Northeastern Australia:

UNSEASONABLY COOL WEATHER PREVAILS
Weekly departures of -1°C to -4°C dominated central and eastern Northern Territory and most of Queensland, but highs exceeded 30°C at many locations, and readings remained above 20°C across the region throughout the week [COLD - Up to 4 weeks].

9. Northeastern Australia:

SCATTERED TORRENTIAL RAINS REPORTED
Heavy downpours (100 to 200 mm) drenched northern and western Queensland and eastern Northern Territory while moderate rains (25 to 100 mm) fell on the remainder of the region. Since late October, precipitation totals of 100 to 650 mm yielded moisture excesses of 50 to 430 mm [WET - Up to 13 weeks].

10. Southeastern Australia:

HEAT WAVE CONTINUES
Temperatures averaged 2°C to 4°C above normal, with localized higher departures of +5°C to +6°C in northern Victoria. Highs ranged from 35°C to 42°C in eastern South Australia and northern Victoria while the mercury topped 24°C to 35°C in Tasmania and southern Victoria [WARM - Up to 7 weeks].
