WARM AND DRY WEATHER PREVAILS
Weekly departures of +2°C to +4°C dominated southern Alaska and adjacent parts of Canada, with highs ranging from 20°C to 26°C [WARM - Up to 5 weeks]. For the 8th consecutive week, no rain was reported across most of the region, allowing moisture deficits of 100 to 200 mm to accumulate along the coasts of southern and southeastern Alaska [DRY - Up to 5 weeks].

2. Central United States:

A RELATIVELY DRY WEEK
Between 25 and 50 mm of rain fell on isolated locations of Nebraska and southwestern Missouri, but most locations experienced favorably dry weather with little or no rain. The western half of Missouri reported 8-week total precipitation of 290 to 390 mm, yielding short-term moisture surpluses of 60 to 160 mm [WET - Ending at 15 weeks].

3. Northeastern United States and Southeastern Canada:

WARM ANOMALY ABATES AS COOL AIR PREPARES TO INVADE REGION
Temperatures averaged 2°C to 5°C above normal across the southern halves of Ontario and Quebec and much of the northeastern United States, but cool, Canadian air began pushing into the region at the end of the week. Highs of 25°C to 35°C prevailed across the region [WARM - Ending at 3 weeks].

4. Central South America:

SUBNORMAL TEMPERATURES DOMINATE

Highs were generally in the twenties (°C) across the region, but climbed above 30°C in northern Bolivia and the northwestern half of Paraguay [COLD - Up to 3 weeks].

5. South-Central Europe:

SHORT-TERM PRECIPITATION DEFICITS REMAIN
Little or no rain fell on southeastern France and northern Italy while 10 to 50 mm dampened most of Switzerland. During the last 8 weeks, most locations received fewer than 100 mm of rain, resulting in precipitation shortfalls of 50 to 200 mm [DRY - Up to 11 weeks].

6. Turkey:

EARLY ONSET OF THE DRY SEASON
Dry weather dominated Turkey as the summer dry season got an early start. Despite the prolonged spell of dry weather, 8-week moisture deficits were below 60 mm across the country [DRY - Up to 11 weeks].

9. East-Central Asia:

DRYNESS PREVAILS
Little or no rain again fell on northern Nei Mongol and Heilongjiang Provinces of China and the adjacent portions of Russia; however, showers of 25 to 40 mm relieved dryness in parts of the Amur Valley of Russia.
