CFS Forecast Verification: Time-longitude section of five-day running mean daily 850-hPa zonal wind verification anomalies (5^oS-5^oN) and forecast anomalies for lead times of 1,2 and 5 pentads. Verification anomalies are departures from the 1981-2001 base period daily means. Forecast anomalies are calculated from the daily climatology of 21 year CFS free runs. Pattern correlations are shown in the plots.
