A strong cyclone rapidly intensified in the Bering Sea and moved due north during the period from October 18-22, 2004 (see below for track details). This cyclone had a very large impact on the Alaskan western coast during the period. Extreme damage occurred in many areas along the west coast including that shown on Front Street in Nome, Alaska (photo by J. Steiger, WSO Nome).
