Abstract Title: Establishing multiple linear regression models to predict meteorological drought in Vietnam

Abstract: Drought is general climatic event, one of the natural calamities and having natural cycle. Drought appears in the most climatic regions in the world with different features. In Vietnam, drought often appears and influences on economic and societal activities in different regions. It is one of the most main reasons that make the desertification and land degradation in Vietnam. Based on this problem and with the aim to reduce damages made by drought, the task of studying to establish models for predicting and early warning drought in Vietnam has been carrying out by Vietnam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Environment. Our study is one of the contents of project named "Study and establishment of technology for predicting and early warning drought in Vietnam". In our study, we have the aim to find suitable drought index and also to establish models for predicting and early warning drought in climatic regions in Vietnam.
