The Operational Monitoring Branch (OMB) delivers real-time monitoring of the evolution of climate system - ocean, surface, troposphere, and stratosphere - over the globe.
The OMB maintains a suite of model based and objective reanalyses products and disseminates them to the user community. OMB performs attribution research to identify the important factors responsible for climate variability, and develops statistical and dynamical long-range prediction techniques. To build capacity in the use of climate information, OMB is actively engaged in training support at national and international arena.
The OMB interacts closely with the Operational Prediction Branch of the Climate Prediction Center, the Environmental Modeling Center of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction, Climate Program Office, and other National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-funded partners towards development of climate models and data assimilation systems, and climate monitoring and prediction products.
