Tropical Pacific Drifting Buoys

JANUARY 2020

During January 2020, 266 satellite-tracked surface drifting buoys were reporting from the tropical Pacific. As seen in December 2019, several drifters in the near-equatorial western basin indicated very strong (>60 cm/s) eastward anomalies relative to January climatology.
